Tempe, AZ (September 30, 2024) – A devastating crash occurred on Monday night, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuring another. The incident took place at approximately 8 p.m. on the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway near Scottsdale Road, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and emergency services.
According to preliminary reports, the accident involved three vehicles. A red vehicle rear-ended a black SUV, which was then struck from behind by a white pickup truck. The force of the collision pushed the black SUV into the median barrier. Tragically, two individuals were found deceased in the red vehicle and had to be extricated by Tempe Fire. The driver of the white pickup truck was transported to a local hospital, but the extent of their injuries remains unknown. Fortunately, the driver of the black SUV did not sustain any injuries.
