Palm Desert, CA (September 25, 2024) – A tragic traffic collision occurred on Tuesday morning, resulting in the death of 18-year-old Andrew Castellanos from Cathedral City. The incident took place just before 8:00 a.m. on Varner Road near Washington Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident involved two vehicles. Preliminary reports indicate that a Lexus sedan was traveling eastbound on Varner Road when it drifted onto the right dirt shoulder. The driver lost control of the vehicle, overcorrected, and veered into the westbound lane, where it collided with an oncoming white Ford pickup truck that was pulling a utility trailer.
Sadly, Andrew Castellanos, who was driving the Lexus, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two men who were riding in the Ford pickup truck reported experiencing pain following the collision and received medical attention.
