Lincoln, NE (September 24, 2024) – A car accident occurred Monday afternoon, September 23, when a vehicle crashed into a building in southeast Lincoln. The incident was reported around 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of 48th Street and Normal Boulevard.
According to police reports, a 77-year-old woman from Lincoln accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake while driving. The vehicle then drove through the All Feline Hospital, striking two individuals who were standing in the lobby at the time.
Emergency responders from Lincoln Fire & Rescue (LFR) quickly arrived on the scene. They successfully rescued a 66-year-old woman who was trapped underneath a desk and the vehicle. She was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A 44-year-old man also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the three employees present in the lobby during the incident were unharmed.
Lincoln Fire & Rescue confirmed that the building remains structurally sound following the crash. The veterinary clinic was able to continue operations thanks to a contingency plan that allowed the business to remain open despite the incident.
