Mims, FL (September 24, 2024) – A tragic head-on collision occurred on State Road 46 on the evening of September 23, resulting in the death of an 82-year-old woman from Brevard County. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 8 p.m. when the elderly driver, operating a Mazda 6, made a left turn toward Sweetwater Court.
After executing a U-turn, the driver attempted to travel east on State Road 46 but inadvertently entered the westbound lane. This misdirection led to a collision with a Nissan Rogue, which was traveling in the westbound lane and driven by a 31-year-old woman from Sanford.
The 82-year-old driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Nissan Rogue sustained serious injuries and was also hospitalized.
