Johnson County, MO (September 20, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Friday night, September 20, at approximately 10:53 p.m. on Eastbound Highway 50 at Highway Z. The incident involved a head-on collision between two vehicles, resulting in one fatality and serious injuries.
According to the preliminary investigation conducted by Trooper Lautenschlager and Trooper J.D. Conrad, a 2021 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 45-year-old Peter E. Goss from Mission Hills, KS, was traveling westbound in the wrong direction when it collided head-on with a 2023 Subaru Legacy, operated by 65-year-old Kevin R. Wilson from Lee’s Summit, MO.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found both drivers injured. Peter Goss sustained serious injuries and was transported to Research Hospital by EMS. Unfortunately, Kevin Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Johnson County Coroner, Clark, at 12:14 a.m.
Both vehicles were deemed totaled and were towed by Ron’s Towing. The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing, with authorities working to gather additional details regarding the events leading up to this tragic incident.
