Mobile County, AL (September 20, 2024) – A tragic accident on Interstate 10 claimed the life of a Louisiana man on Wednesday morning, September 18. The crash involved three tractor-trailers and occurred near the 1 mile marker, approximately 13 miles west of Mobile.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the incident took place around 9:35 a.m. when 30-year-old Kenneth L. Barker of Franklinton, Louisiana, was driving a 2023 Peterbilt tractor-trailer. Barker’s vehicle collided with a 2016 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by 54-year-old Gerardo Muniz of Alamo, Texas. Following the initial collision, the Kenworth struck the rear of a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer operated by 34-year-old Arsen Kolzlovskyi of Chicago.
Authorities reported that Barker was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to University Hospital in Mobile, where he later died. The drivers of the other two trucks were also taken to the hospital for treatment, although their conditions have not been disclosed.
Troopers from ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident.
