Covington, TX – Accident on SH 171 Results in Fatality

Covington, TX (September 19, 2024) – A fatal accident on SH 171 near Covington early Tuesday morning, September 17, left one person dead. Texas DPS reports the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. when a northbound Chevrolet pickup truck experienced mechanical issues and became disabled. The occupants exited the vehicle, and shortly after, a Dodge Ram struck the Chevrolet, causing it to spin and hit one of the individuals.

The victim, identified as 44-year-old Christopher Lozano, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported, and the victim’s next of kin have been notified.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash and are expected to provide updates as more information becomes available.
