Sturgis, SD – 80-Year-Old Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on Avalanch Rd

Sturgis, SD (September 19, 2024) – An 80-year-old woman died in a two-vehicle crash five miles north of Sturgis on Wednesday, September 18. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved, as family notifications are pending.

Preliminary reports indicate the crash occurred when a 1999 Dodge Ram, travelling north on Avalanch Rd near Eden Rd, collided with a Polaris Ranger. The Polaris driver, attempting a left turn onto Avalanch Rd, was ejected from the vehicle and later died from her injuries. The Dodge driver was unharmed.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash. All details remain preliminary.
