Bangor, ME (September 18, 2024) – Two individuals were hospitalized after a head-on collision on RTE 1 in Whitneyville on Tuesday, September 17. Authorities reported that 41-year-old Patrick So from Ellsworth was driving north when he lost control of his vehicle. He crossed the centerline and collided with another car.

So was airlifted to Eastern Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The other driver also suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the same hospital for treatment. Both individuals are currently receiving medical attention.

Speed is suspected to be a factor in the crash, and local authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
