Medical Lake, WA (September 17, 2024) – Authorities have identified 38-year-old Crystal Schwartz as the woman killed in a car accident near Fairchild Air Force Base in mid-August. Schwartz was walking eastbound on Hwy 2 when she unexpectedly crossed into the westbound lanes and was struck by a Toyota Highlander.

The 18-year-old driver and his passenger, both from Medical Lake, were uninjured. According to Washington State Patrol (WSP), the cause of the crash was a pedestrian violation. It remains unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved.
