Grand Rapids, MI (September 16, 2024) – A Grand Rapids police cruiser was involved in a crash early Monday at Michigan St NE and Lafayette Ave NE. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. near Grand Valley State University’s Cook Devos Center for Health Sciences.
According to police, a reckless driver in a stolen white Kia ran a red light and collided with the eastbound cruiser. The vehicle was carrying three juveniles, two of whom tried to flee the scene but were apprehended. One had to be extricated from the car, and all three were hospitalized.
The officer involved was also taken to the hospital for evaluation. No serious injuries were reported. Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash and locate the vehicle’s owner.
