Jasper, AL (September 12, 2024) – A fatal crash on Monday claimed the lives of two Jasper residents. The accident occurred at 4:30 p.m. on Arkadelphia Rd, about two miles north of Jasper, when a Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 79-year-old Charles E. Calloway, collided with a Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer.

Calloway and his passenger, 85-year-old Delores G. Burgess, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The tractor-trailer was driven by 26-year-old David M. McDaniel from Madison.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
