Pomona, CA (September 12, 2024) – Several large wildfires are burning across Southern California, prompting evacuation orders. At least 10 people, including first responders, have been injured. California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in San Bernardino County and secured FEMA funds to combat the wildfires.
The Bridge Fire, spanning 48,000 acres, continues to grow with no containment. Over 450 personnel are battling the blaze, which threatens Pomona and Highland areas. Evacuations have been ordered, and infrastructure in the Wrightwood area has been impacted.
Authorities arrested Justin Wayne Halstenberg for allegedly starting the Line Fire in Highland on September 5. More details are expected as the investigation continues.
