Austin, TX (September 11, 2024) – A fatal hit-and-run accident occurred Tuesday morning on W SH 71 near Old Bee Caves Rd. Austin-Travis County EMS and police responded at 7:17 a.m. to a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, while the vehicle involved fled.

The Austin Police Department is investigating the incident as the city’s 63rd fatal crash of 2024. Authorities are still working to locate the driver involved. The investigation remains ongoing.
