Donnelly, ID (September 11, 2024) – A devastating two-vehicle collision occurred on State Highway-55 near milepost 127, just south of Donnelly on September 10, 2024. A 30-year-old man from Cascade, driving a white Chevrolet Venture, tragically lost his life in the crash. The Chevrolet crossed into the northbound lanes, resulting in a head-on collision with a Peterbilt semi-truck driven by a 40-year-old man from Nampa.
The severe impact caused the Chevrolet to overturn and come to rest on the west side of the highway. The Peterbilt semi-truck managed to stop on the east shoulder. Fortunately, the driver of the semi-truck was unharmed in the incident.
The accident led to a lengthy road closure, lasting over four hours, as the Idaho Transportation Department, along with multiple agencies including the Valley County Sheriff’s Office and Donnelly Fire and EMS, responded to the scene. The ongoing investigation aims to determine the precise cause of this tragic event.
