Nashville, TN (September 9, 2024) – A 73-year-old California man, Romayne Soiseth, tragically died after being struck on I-65 S Sunday night. Soiseth, a passenger on a 14-hour trip, exited his vehicle in stop-and-go traffic on I-65 N, feeling unwell and claustrophobic.
After climbing over the center barrier, Soiseth ran into the southbound lanes, where a Ford Focus hit him. The 23-year-old driver is not facing charges, according to Metro Nashville Police. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) closed all lanes near Rosa L. Parks Blvd for the investigation, which is ongoing.
