Logan, WV (September 7, 2024) – Gary Chapman, a 33-year-old miner from South Williamson, KY, tragically died from injuries sustained in an accident at the Mountaineer II Mine near Sharples, Logan County, on Friday evening, September 6. His death marks the fourth mining fatality in West Virginia this year.
The state Office of Miner’s Health, Safety, and Training, along with MSHA, is investigating the circumstances of the accident. As the investigation continues, more information is expected.
