Jefferson County, MO – Fatal Injuries in Two-Vehicle Accident on US-67 at I-55

Jefferson County, MO (September 6, 2024) – A fatal two-vehicle accident occurred on Friday, September 6, along US-67 northbound at I-55. James M. Nelson, 40, driving a Chrysler Crossfire, tragically passed away after his vehicle collided with a Freightliner Cascadia driven by 56-year-old Michael L. Russel, Jr.

Nelson’s vehicle crossed the centerline, striking Russel’s truck before hitting a concrete barrier. Nelson was transported to Mercy Hospital Jefferson, where he was pronounced dead by Dr. R. Evans at 3:34 a.m. A passenger, Michael W. Coleman, 40, sustained moderate injuries and was also transported to the same hospital.

Authorities are investigating the crash and will provide further updates as the inquiry progresses.
