Sumter County, FL (September 6, 2024) – A school bus and a Ford Escort collided on Friday morning, September 6, at the intersection of CR-222 and CR-223 in Sumter County. The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the 68-year-old driver of the Escort failed to stop at a posted stop sign and entered the path of the school bus.
The Escort’s driver suffered serious injuries, while the 50-year-old bus driver sustained minor injuries. Both were transported to a hospital for treatment. One student on the bus reported injuries but did not require medical attention.
