Dresden, ME – Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on Rte 27 Leaves One Dead, Four Injured

Dresden, ME (September 5, 2024) – A crash on Rte 27 in Dresden claimed the life of Andrew Coombs, 33, of Portland, and left four others with internal injuries. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, September 2 when Coombs’ 2016 Kia Rio veered into the northbound lane, striking two vehicles.

The collision involved a Hyundai SUV driven by Brad Reed, 41, and a 2023 Infiniti QX55 driven by Megan Higgins, 43, with two children. Both vehicles rolled over upon impact. Coombs died at the scene, while the others were transported to Maine Medical Center.

Authorities are investigating the crash and the erratic driving report of Coombs’ vehicle prior to the collision. Further updates will follow as the investigation continues.
