Omaha, NE – Fatal Multi-Vehicle Accident with Injuries on Dodge St near 62nd St

Omaha, NE (September 5, 2024) – A crash near the University of Nebraska-Omaha early Wednesday, September 4 claimed one life and left another person injured. Emergency responders arrived at the scene near 62nd and Dodge St around 7 a.m. and pronounced 69-year-old Vickie Avant dead.

Authorities reported that a Ford Mustang lost control after making abrupt lane changes, colliding with Avant’s SUV, which was forced into an eastbound lane and hit by a Chevy truck. The Chevy driver suffered injuries and was treated at Nebraska Medicine.

The two other drivers involved were unharmed. The investigation is ongoing, and charges are expected as more details emerge.
