Tavares, FL – Toddler Killed in DUI Accident Involving Tricycle on Local Street

Tavares, FL (September 4, 2024) – A 2-year-old child was tragically killed in a DUI accident on Monday, September 2, involving a speeding truck in Tavares. The driver, 19-year-old Joshua Montero, is charged with DUI manslaughter following the incident.

Around 7 p.m., the child’s parents, sitting in their driveway, saw the truck speeding and shouted for the driver to slow down. The vehicle hit the child riding a blue tricycle in the cul-de-sac and dragged them a few feet before stopping. Neighbours attempted CPR, but the child died at a hospital.

Witnesses confirmed the truck’s front tire ran over the child. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash and are expected to provide updates as more information becomes available.
