Antwerp Twp, MI (September 2, 2024) – A 78-year-old man from Lawton died after being struck by a car early Sunday morning, September 1, in Antwerp Township. The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office reported the incident occurred around 4:20 a.m. on County Rd 657 near Two Oaks Cir.

Deputies revealed that the man was walking in the road without reflective clothing when a northbound vehicle hit him. The man was “well into the travel lane” at the time of the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver involved is cooperating with authorities. The investigation into the cause of the accident continues, and further information will be provided as it becomes available.
