Wading River, NY (September 1, 2024) – Douglas Sutherland, aged 70, lost his life after being struck by a vehicle early Saturday, August 31. The incident occurred around 6:04 a.m. in the eastbound lane of Sound Ave near Hulse Ldg Rd. An 84-year-old man driving a 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz hit Sutherland.

Emergency services transported Sutherland to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he succumbed to his numerous injuries.

Riverhead Town Police and New York State Police are collaborating in the ongoing investigation. More details are expected as the investigation continues.
